With so much to do before a new baby arrives, it can be overwhelming, however, there is still so much fun and excitement to be found as you prepare! I found one of the most fun parts was the nursery decorating.

You’re preparing and decorating the space where you’re going to teach, play, and cuddle your little one. Makes one’s heart warm and tingly!

Anyways, enough mushy gushy for one day lol How did you decorate your baby’s room? Did you match it to a favorite book or movie character? Go nature themed? Focus on a color? All the above? None?

We didn’t do a theme, just filled it with some of our favorite things. (For me, Butterflies & Pooh Bear!) From being a kid who dressed up as Pooh Bear for Halloween to dressing up as Pooh Bear as a pregnant woman for some maternity pictures, I’ve always loved Pooh Bear and the whimsical feel of his stories. It was an easy choice to include in the nursery!

Now let’s get started with some great board books for baby and then a fun-filled picture frame project that’s perfect for every nursery!

Winnie the Pooh – My First Library Board Book Set By Erin Rose Wage

A set of 12 board books that are the perfect size for little hands. Lady loves looking at these books during tummy time. She seems to like the simple colors and cartoonish look of the characters.

Each book is a few pages long and features at least one word. One of the books does counting, another rhyming (though I didn’t love that one..), and so on. Overall I liked the set and would buy that as a gift for an expectant Mom to add to her baby’s early days of book reading.

Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree By Janet Campbell

Everyone knows a Pooh Bear’s favorite thing is honey! So when his honey pot runs dry, there is only one thing for poor old Pooh Bear to do, go search for more. What comes next is a series of crazy moments that leave you smiling as you read along.

The version I have is part of the Disney collection where it reads as you follow along. (My grandma had an old record player that we listened to all the old Disney stories on. How crazy is that!?)

I really enjoy the classic Pooh Bear illustrations and couldn’t help chuckling when Rabbit decorated Pooh Bear as a moose hunting trophy while he was stuck!

Paint Sticks to Picture Frame

One of my baby shower gifts included some 8×10 watercolor pictures and quotes from Pooh Bear. (See them here!) I knew I wanted to hang them in the nursery but didn’t want to put them in the typical picture frames. They have been waiting in the closet until I had an idea for them.

I was roaming home depot a couple of weeks ago and came across their paint sticks. On a whim, I bought a set and these picture frames came to be. Overall for the 3 frames, it cost me about $5. Not too shabby, huh?!

Supplies For 1 Frame:

  • 10 pack of 12 inch paint sticks
  • Your choice of paint & brushes
  • Hot glue gun
  • 2 Popsicle sticks
  • String

Directions:

  1. Open your paint sticks and paint one side of 6 of the sticks completely. Once they’ve dried, tape the sticks together into a neat stack and cut them into pieces. (I did mine random sizes but feel free to measure them out.)

2. Take 2 of the unpainted sticks and cut them at the indent. (These will be the top and bottom of the frame. The other 2 unpainted sticks make up the rest of the frame base.) Hot glue the frame together with the 2 shorter sticks on top.

3. Take your smaller painted pieces and lay out the pattern you want. Once you’re happy with it, hot glue them onto the frame and let them dry.

4. Flip over the frame and measure where the picture is going to go. (The frames are perfect for an 8.5 x 11 paper but will also barely fit an 8×10 picture.) You are then going to glue a popsicle stick at a slight angle to the top and bottom of the frame. (This will hold in your picture later.)

5. Time to add the string. We drilled a hole on each side of the top and tied 3 knots so the string wouldn’t pop back out of the hole. Fill free to just glue the string to the back of the frame if you prefer that look instead.

6. Insert your pictures (We used these Pooh Bear Watercolor Pictures) by slightly bending the paper into the groves made by the popsicle sticks. Hang frames up and enjoy!

We put 2 of our Pooh Bear pictures in the frames and then did a footprint craft for the 3rd. (Christopher Robin, Piglet, & Pooh Bear.) The pictures and frames add a simple but whimsical look to the nursery. We love it!!

Dani-Your Pooh pictures and quotes just fill my heart. (Don’t really know how to explain it.) They remind me of how much I love Pooh and the gang. And I love your colorful frames!
